Help Your Relationship Thrive Again!
Here at Rooted Survivors Therapy, we take great care to make sure that your relationship is emotionally safe first and foremost. That’s why our main goal is to create a space where you are equally understood, and there is accountability around no longer engaging in the destructive patterns of the relationship.

We aren’t the “relationship police”. We look at the patterns that keep you stuck in the loop and give you the tools to break out of it. To make your relationship a safer and happier place for both of you.

Is This How Your Relationship Feels Right Now?
Does it feel like you’re both speaking different languages in the same house? You’re shouting to be heard, but can’t get through. We’re here to tell you it doesn’t have to be that way!

We help you find that "easy" feeling again. Not by ignoring the hard parts, but by learning how to navigate them without leaving scars. Some couples therapists inadvertently make relationships less safe and more complicated by focusing only on skill-building and finger-pointing. We follow a different approach.
At Rooted Survivors, we are well-versed in the nuances of Power and Control dynamics and emotional abuse, and we use that knowledge to help you create a relationship that’s safe and satisfying.
When Should You Consider Couples Therapy?
Many couples wait until they're in crisis before reaching out for support, but couples counseling can be helpful long before a relationship reaches a breaking point.
You may benefit from couples therapy if it feels like you're having the same argument over and over again, struggling to communicate without things escalating, or finding it difficult to feel heard and understood by your partner. Perhaps conversations quickly turn into defensiveness, criticism, withdrawal, or resentment. Maybe you've started feeling more like opponents than teammates.
Couples counseling can also be helpful when navigating major life transitions, rebuilding trust after a breach in the relationship, addressing intimacy concerns, improving co-parenting, or recovering from difficult experiences that have affected your connection.

Our Evidence-Based Approach to Couples Counseling
Our approach is informed by evidence-based relationship therapies and focuses on helping partners recognize the cycles they become trapped in, strengthen emotional safety, improve understanding, and rebuild trust.
We also carefully assess for power and control dynamics, emotional abuse, and relationship patterns that may be contributing to distress. Rather than taking sides or assigning blame, we help both partners develop greater awareness, accountability, and practical tools for creating a healthier, more secure connection.
The goal is not to "win" arguments; it's to build a relationship where both partners feel seen, respected, and understood.

What Can You Expect from Couples Counseling?
Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, couples therapy at Rooted Survivors helps you identify the cycles that keep you disconnected and develop healthier ways of communicating, repairing hurt, and working together.
As emotional safety grows, many couples find they are able to have difficult conversations with less defensiveness, greater understanding, and a renewed sense of connection.

Meet Lauren Taylor, an Experienced Couples Therapist Working with Clients in California and Oklahoma
Lauren E. Taylor, LMFT
Practice Founder and Clinical Supervisor
EMDR and DBT certified

My work as a therapist has been shaped by more than a decade of supporting people through trauma, relationship challenges, and intense emotional experiences.
I began my career in crisis and community mental health settings, working with teens and adults navigating severe mental illness, mood disorders, and high-risk situations. Those early years taught me how to stay present, calm, and effective in moments when clients felt overwhelmed or hopeless.
Relationships can become strained when communication breaks down, trust is damaged, or unresolved pain begins affecting connection. In couples therapy, I provide a balanced and supportive space where both partners can feel heard, understood, and respected. Together, we'll identify patterns that contribute to conflict, strengthen communication, and build healthier ways of relating to one another.
My approach combines practical tools with deeper exploration of the emotional experiences shaping your relationship.
Whether you're navigating recurring conflict, life transitions, or rebuilding trust, therapy can help create greater understanding, connection, and resilience within your partnership.
