You Don't Have to Believe Everything Your Mind Tells You

Your thoughts have a huge impact on how you feel, how you see yourself, and how you live your life. However, when your mind becomes focused on worst-case scenarios, self-criticism, or constant worry, it can cause you to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we'll identify the patterns that may cause anxiety, stress, or self-doubt.

What Is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most widely used and evidence-based forms of therapy. It is built on a simple but powerful and proven premise: Your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are interconnected.

We use CBT to help you learn better problem-solving skills, reduce anxiety, and begin to speak to yourself with a much kinder voice. CBT is especially helpful when you're struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, or low self-esteem.

Your mind may develop certain patterns of thinking that reinforce those difficulties. Over time, these thoughts can form patterns that begin to feel like facts, even when they aren't fully accurate or helpful. CBT helps you recognize these patterns, understand how they affect your emotions and actions, and develop more balanced ways of responding.

Because CBT is goal-oriented and focused on the present, many of our clients find it very effective in creating positive, meaningful change.

What Can You Expect From CBT?

One of the biggest advantages of CBT is that it provides you with practical tools you can continue using long after therapy ends.

Through CBT, you can learn how to:

  • Identify unhelpful thought patterns

  • Reduce anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Challenge self-critical thinking

  • Develop healthier coping strategies

  • Improve problem-solving skills

  • Build self-confidence

  • Manage stress more effectively

  • Strengthen emotional resilience

As you begin to shift long-standing patterns of thinking, you may notice positive changes in your mood, relationships, confidence, and overall well-being.

What Does a CBT Session Look Like?

CBT is an active and collaborative form of therapy. We'll work together to better understand what's contributing to your challenges and identify practical ways to create change.

During our first CBT sessions, we’ll talk about:

  • What brings you to therapy

  • Current challenges and symptoms

  • Patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors

  • Goals you'd like to achieve through therapy

As therapy progresses, CBT sessions may involve:

  • Identifying automatic thoughts and core beliefs

  • Exploring situations that trigger emotional distress

  • Learning strategies to challenge unhelpful thinking

  • Developing new coping tools and behaviours

Many people begin noticing small but meaningful changes within the first few CBT sessions. Increased awareness often leads to early improvements, while bigger and more lasting changes develop over time.

Meet Lauren Taylor, an Experienced CBT Therapist Working with Clients in California and Oklahoma

Lauren E. Taylor, LMFT
Practice Founder and Clinical Supervisor
EMDR and DBT certified
Licensed in CA, OK and NV

My work as a therapist has been shaped by more than a decade of supporting people through trauma, relationship challenges, and intense emotional experiences.

I began my career in crisis and community mental health settings, working with teens and adults navigating severe mental illness, mood disorders, and high-risk situations. Those early years taught me how to stay present, calm, and effective in moments when clients felt overwhelmed or hopeless.

I help clients understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact to shape their daily lives. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions to identify unhelpful patterns and develop practical strategies for change.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. Together, we'll build insight, strengthen coping skills, and create healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. My goal is to help you move beyond simply managing symptoms and toward a more balanced, confident, and fulfilling life.
